With his first loss in seven bouts only a few weeks behind him, Antonio ‘Bigfoot’ Silva (13-2) still feels like he won his Strikeforce bout against Fabricio Werdum.

Sporting a cast after fracturing his hand in the second round against Werdum, Silva talked with Tatame.com.br about his thoughts on the judges decision on the outcome of the match.

Tatame: What did you think of the fight?
Antonio Silva: The fight was not good because the judges gave the decision to Werdum. After the fight, I went home and watched the fight, coldly calculated, I’m sure I won. I won the first round fired, the second was tight, but I got a knockdown at the beginning and most people were up, and the third I really lost,…because I fractured my hand early in the second round, at the time of that knockdown. I am in plaster now, soon I go back to the doctor to know how it is.

The decision was more just for me, but I had said before that he could not leave it in the hands of judges, but I was not competent enough. I had opportunities, but sent up because Werdum is a great athlete, a great person, but I knew he was not going to knock me out, and that he was not going to finish me on the floor. The only way he had me was by decision. I was able to stop the fight and did not finish … I speak here for the staff who gives the show is Xuxa, the deal is to go in there and win, but I wanted to make a beautiful struggle, have drawn up, and God punished me.

Tatame: Why did you fail to win the fight?
Antonio Silva: What was missing is that if I kept beating for about 20 seconds, giving pressure, I would have ended the fight there. Even the Master Rafael Cordeiro, after the event, said he thought the fight would end there, because I go to the floor and finish in the ground and pound, but I wanted to finish the fight at that moment, I thought better to have it up and try to knock over, make a beautiful struggle, so I got another knockdown after. I did a very good job here at ATT, but unfortunately I fractured my hand but continued fighting. I lost the third round clearly, but I’m sure I won the other.
