
The “WEC 44: Brown vs. Aldo” event was held at the The Pearl at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas on Wednesday night. The event was capped off with the crowning of a new WEC featherweight champion in Jose Aldo who defeated former champ Mike Brown in the second round by TKO.
“Fight Night” bonuses were handed out to Aldo, Roller, Swanson, and Franchi who all earned an extra $10,000 to their salaries. A total of $236,500 was payed out in fighter salaries for the event.
New champ Jose Aldo earned the “Knockout of the Night” bonus, Shane Roller picked up the “Submission of the Night” bonus, While Cub Swanson and John Franchi earned the “Fight of the Night” bonus.
The top earners for the event was Manny Gamburyan who earned $36,000 and Jose Aldo who earned $24,000.
