After putting together a 1-2 record in the UFC, middleweight fighter Jake Rosholt (6-2) has been released by the UFC. The news comes from Rosholt himself who posted the notice via his Twitter site, saying “Not a good day. Just found out I got cut by the UFC.”
In his last bout, the four-time All-American and 2003 NCAA Division 1 wrestling champion lost via submission to Kendall Grove at UFC 106 as part of the preliminary card televised on Spike TV.
Rosholt made his UFC debut against Dan Miller in February of this year, losing the match via guillotine choke in the first round at UFC Fight Night 17. In his next bout at UFC 102 in August, he defeated Chris Leban via arm triangle choke in the third round of their match. The victory over Leban earned Rosholt the “Submission of the Night” bonus.
