A possible welterweight rematch is in the works for UFC 109 featuring Josh Koscheck (14-4) and Paulo Thiago (12-1) according to AOL Fanhouse today.
Both men will face each other for the second time in just shy of a years time. Thiago defeated Koscheck at UFC 95 via TKO in the first round of their bout on Feb. 21. UFC 109, although not official, is believed to be scheduled for Feb. 6 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas.
Koscheck is coming off of a recent win over Anthony Johnson at UFC 106, earning the “Submission of the Night” award for subbing his opponent in the second round via rear naked choke. That victory earned Koscheck his second straight win since his loss to Thiago.
After his victory over Johnson, Koscheck let it be known that he felt he should be next to face UFC welterweight champ Georges St. Pierre instead of current challenger Dan Hardy.
Thiago also competed at UFC 106, bouncing back from his first career loss by earning a unanimous decision victory over Jacob Volkmann. The Brazilian earned 11 straight victories before Jon Fitch defeated him at UFC 100 by unanimous decision. His victory over Koscheck in February was considered an upset which he will look to repeat at UFC 109.
