Former UFC welterweight champ Matt Hughes (43-7) will make his return to the octagon April 10 for what is presumably UFC 112. It was believed that Hughes was going to return as part of UFC 109 or UFC 110.
The news comes right from Hughes himself, who posted the notice on his personal website matt-hughes.com.
I have a possible date for my next fight, they tell me that it is April 10th. I’ll tell you later who and where when I find out for sure if it is confirmed.
The former champ hasn’t fought since his unanimous decision victory over Matt Serra at UFC 98 in May of this year. His record over his past five bouts equals two wins and three losses over the past three years. Two of those losses came at the hands of current UFC welterweight champ Georges St. Pierre.
