A welterweight matchup between TUF 7 winner Amir Sadollah (2-1) and Brad Blackburn (17-9-1) will fill the final main-card slot for the UFC’s Ultimate Fight Night 20.
The news was first reported by Examiner.com’s Newark blog and has since been confirmed by MMAjunkie.com. Nothing official has been announced and nothing has been signed, but sources close to the event confirmed that verbal agreements have been made between the fighters.
Ultimate Fight Night 20 is scheduled to take place Jan. 11 at the Patriot Center on the campus of George Mason University in Fairfax, Va., with the main event portion being broadcast on Spike TV.
TUF 7 winner Sadollah, fought a few short weeks ago at UFC 106, spoiling the return of Phil Baroni to the UFC. Sadollah easily handled the ‘New York Bad Ass’ throughout all three rounds earning a unanimous decision victory. The win helped “The Ultimate Fighter: The Aftermath” host bounce back from a previous loss to Johny Hendricks at UFC 101.
Blackburn has won five straight bouts, including one no-contest, in his past six matches earning a split decision victory over Edgar Garcia at the TUF 9 Finale event in June. His other two UFC victories were over Ryo Chonan and James Giboo.
